Well, the chipmunk had not gone outside. He was still under the couch.
Baby and I chased him back and forth under the couch and recliner.
He always ran off before I could really grab him.
He went under the recliner and was in the corner really close to me. So, I grabbed him. He managed to squirm out and ran back under the couch.
I tried to grab him there. Didn't get a good grip... He was scared out of his gourd and ran every which way, even at me for a second.
Next thing, Baby had cornered him in the corner of the living. perfect! out in the open.
I tried to grab him. He ran. Baby gave chase. Behind the tv. And out and back into baileyjosh's room where Hanna had dropped him in the first place.
All this time the front door was wide open, by the way. He never tried to run that way.
He ran into a room from which he couldn't get outside and which contained Hanna, who was the one who caught him in the first place! not smart. (hanna didn't chase him though. she was napping and didn't realize what was going on. babe was still in hot pursuit though)
Anyway, I figured that was it. There was no way I could get to him under that desk and stuff. I tried looked for him. I couldn't see him. I couldn't even see baby, who isn't so tiny and is bright white.
I kept looking. Where were they?
I looked under the bed. I had to move dad's crap, because it was in the way.
There he was. I found him! Baby was right there. She couldn't see him though, because he was under a bar up against the wall. She walked right past him.
With both hands, I grasped him and forced him to come into my hands.
He was scared. very, very scared.
I took him out to bring him outside.
But first I stopped for pictures.

And then I took him out into the front yard.
He seemed to calm down a bit when he realized he was outside again.
Then I took him down to the lawn and let him out in the grass.
He frolicked with joy!
Or hopped with maddening fear... close enough.
he ran around trying to find a place to hide. I came back in.
He'll be fine.
I'm so happy I got him out of here and before the cats got him!
He spent a full day in a house full of cats. I didn't think he'd make it.

oh, and I'm wearing gloves because once my dad tried to rescue a chipmunk thusly. He picked it up with his bare hands and brought it outside. And then the chipmunk bit him. And a really powerful bite too. He had to go to the hospital it was so bad.
So, yeah. Chipmunks have powerful jaws and I wasn't too keen about them claws either.

heh.
This guy was brought in by a cat and took 24 hours to remove though. Not exactly fun.
Well, the cats thought it was interesting..

It would have been awesome to get a picture with the little guy's side stripe, but I understand with the danger 8-) Good work though!
