arielgodwin told me about the mothman of west virginia. interesting.
I don't see how it could be related to a bridge collapse though, unless you believe the mothman is connected to ufo aliens and those aliens are responsible for some sort of bridge sabotage. That's a bit of a stretch, I think.
I think the explanation of a non-native bird is quite believable.
but could it be related to the cornstalk curse?! I think so.
Anyway, now I want to watch the mothman prophecies. I'll be disappointed if it's not related.

The baby is so cute!

I read the book The Mothman Prophecies, on which the film (which I never saw and refuse to see) is loosely based. The book is great, whether you believe the stuff or not, because it's all very creepy and scary. It's labeled "non-fiction," though I doubt any of it's very provable... It's all related to aliens and UFOs and all that stuff; the Mothman himself is just one part of it all.

Well, the Mothman comes up quite a bit, but it's more focused on all this paranormal phenomena in general, so I'm not sure why it's named that. But I do know that it's highly likely that The X-Files stole all of its ideas from this book (and others like it)! :)

We need to write to the author and ask why the heck he named it that!!

Saw the movie, and read the book. The movie was the best a movie based on the book can be. The author of the book even made an appearance in the movie. I think I got a copy back home, or else it's regularly on Demand on IO I think. - Brendan

So is it about the mothman? Do the mothman make prophecies?

Not so sure exactly how to put it right, and certainly not sure if I would be spoiling it. I think it's more Mothman is a force of nature kind of thing. It would be best to read it and see it and draw your own conclusions.

I might just do that!
I'm putting it way low on my list of things to read though.
